Realising the Core Business: Apotheosis

The core business we realised is focusing on student needs because they are where the biggest income comes from, however our service does cater sufficiently for alumni and prospective students. It is important we remain focused on our core business and ensure that we are giving students the best service possible because they are the ones who use the service the most.

Core business = PROVIDING A COMMUNICATION SERVICE TO STUDENTS!!!!

The Master of Two Worlds: You know what it takes

After being accepted and being in partnership with many higher institutions around the city, to grow even more  we are contemplating going into high schools around the country. This will help in getting students access to information whilst also expanding  their particular alumni interaction and communication. With alumni intergration, it could mean more funding and opportunites for the school and pupils respectively>

Just an idea... Still doing the market research!!!!

The Crossing of the Return Threshold: The Venture is a Success

After the initial success at UWC,our brand name and service has expanded all over the country including Kovsies, UJ, NMMU, Pukke. All institutions have seen the value in building a community and allowing students and all relevant parties easy access to information and a forum to exchange ideas. University support and communication from prospective students to alumni has grown immensely and that is the foundation of the success.

SUCCESS BREEDS CONFIDENCE... Our confidence has allowed us to grow so much from one institution too 13 around the country.

VIVA ALL ACCESS VIVA

Rescue From Without: When Business Competition is Your Best Friend

As we have stated before, we have a plan to intergrate all UWC online services. This means that we will include E-Learning, Groupwise, UWC Thetha etc in our mobile services, therefore become more streamlined and profitable for all parties who are competing for students and other customers. Together we can make a better service for all stakeholders by putting our heads together and working together.

The Magic Flight: Exit Strategy

Our exit strategy would be to sell when we have reached our goals as a venture and have seen the business grow sufficiently. Our goals we have all agreed upon as a team, all potential bidders will be screened thouroughly in order for us to feel comfortable that we are selling to the right people who have the same beliefs and value systems as us. Then only will we think about selling!!!!!

Refusal of The Return: Dont Lose Sight of the Core Business

We are expanding yes, however we will not lose sight of our core product functions and systems that made our application a success in the first place. We will make our applications relative to the new institution and intergrate their own specific needs and culture but we reiterate we will not lose focus on our CORE business and functions.

The Ultimate Boom: Newfound Business Acumen

Success has come quickly, this success breeds confidence in our skills and abilities. Our business skills ranging from communication, customer relations , general running of the business and so much more has grown so much from the day we decided to start this venture.

We now have the believe that we can actually start to grow and expand our ALL ACCESS brand... The future looks bright, our confidence is sky high and OUR feet is firmly on the ground.

VIVA ALL ACCESS VIVA!!!!

Atonement With the Father: Collaborating with the BIG GUYS

Instead of competing forever with all UWC online services we will eventually put together a plan to intergrate and synergise all UWC online service offerings for students, alumni, staff and all relative stakeholders in UWC community. Therefore making life easier for everyone including competing online service providers and customers alike.

Customers will get a streamlined, fast and efficient information hub!!!!!

Temptation: Shifting Market Places

After the early success, the temptation is there to expand however not just yet but in the near future to other institutions such as CPUT, Maties, UCT etc. Before we expand we want our product to be almost flawless, offer the most neccesary functions and more for students, alumni etc. When we are comfortable and confident to shift market places and grow we defintely will.

Meeting with the Goddess: First Customer Early Success

Before accepting our product UWC wanted substantial evidence of our products efficiency and if their was a need for it. We agreed upon a randomly selected sample size of 20 students who would the use the application for a month and give weekly feedback then give an overall report on the product at the end of the month.

After the month was complete the feedback with regards to our application was very positive, the only concern was the technical issues with regards to the application. This problem will be solved via Silverkeys Consulting. The students found the easy access anywhere anytime to be really convenient and suited the modern students needs. Therefore 18 out of the 20 felt it was a application that they would use daily for all their news and updates with regards to their academic information and more.

After the trial period, UWC felt the feedback from the trialists were enough evidence to warrant this becoming part of their offerings for the students. Early success was achieved!!!!! We are officially in business :)

The Road of Trials

The first issue was to find a suitable company to develop our application. The most suitable we felt to help us through our journey was Silverkeys Consulting Services. We agreed to pay for our application in full whilst holding paying them a  monthly retainer throughout in case of technical issues. Their pricing was expensive but affordable and their track record speaks for itself.

The application development was done swiftly and proffesionallwith enough time for us to give our product a trial period.

We look forward to a long and healthy relationship with Silverkey Consulting.

10 Common Marketing Mistakes to Avoid

A good marketing plan can help launch a new business or grow an existing one. Below are a few to
common marketing mistakes to avoid:
1. Untargeted Marketing
You need to have a clear long-term strategy for your marketing campaign to be successful. Find your
target audience and gear your marketing plan to that audience. Too make companies advertise once
in a while and without a targeted message. Customers tend not to react the first time they hear an
advertisement, so it is very important to have a clear and consistent marketing strategy.

2. Leaving advertising too late
This is a very common mistake among start-ups and small businesses. There is a delay between
advertising and clients reacting, so it’s important to keep on advertising at all times. You should also
plan your marketing campaigns to coincide with new products, new services, upcoming events, etc.

3. Copying your competitors
Don’t feel you always need to follow your competitors lead, because there is no guarantee that their
forms of advertising are any more successful than yours. It is often more effective to differentiate
yourself, rather than follow the competition. It is obviously important to keep an eye on the
competition’s advertising strategies, but don’t just copy them without thinking about it.

4. Not tracking results
It is massively important to track the success of your advertising. You can obviously save yourself
money by cutting out the less effective methods, and you can increase your conversion rates by
concentrating on the more successful ones. If you advertise online, you can use tools such as Google
Analytics and by monitoring the Cost per Conversion of your keywords. Another alternative is to
simply ask your clients how they heard about you.

5. Trying to save in areas where you should be spending
Everything the customer sees will give them an impression of your business and first impressions are
very important. This is why it is so important to make sure your website, brochures, adverts, etc.
always look up-to-date and eye-catching.

6. Relying on one advertising medium
Marketing on television, in print or on the Internet alone will reach only a portion of your potential
customers. For example, if you advertise on the internet alone you are more likely to attract a
younger audience, so you might have to think of an alternative strategy to attract the older
generation.

7. Inconsistency in your marketing campaigns
The most common and most costly mistake is changing the theme, format, or media used in your
marketing campaign. Don’t give up if an advertisement doesn’t work the first time, as most of the
time you have to repeat advertising for the message to get across and attract clients. You should
also try and be consistent in terms of look and feel of your various advertising campaigns, so that
potential clients start to remember and recognise your business.

8. Lack of follow up
Sometimes making a sale requires sending a note or picking up the phone and calling your prospects.
If you have an effective lead generation strategy, prospects will provide you with their contact
information and the problem they want solved. Use the web, email, and the phone to follow up and
close the sale.

9. Lack of Customer Feedback
Follow up every sale or potential sale to make sure the customer is satisfied. If you ask them how
you could improve your service and then follow their advice, you can’t fail.

10. Not putting enough emphasis on existing clients
Don’t just focus on bringing in new clients. Always remember to try and hang onto previous and
existing clients, as they make up to 80% of the customer volume in most businesses
